About Morgan

After an adventure of living in Hawaii for a year, pre-pandemic, I returned to my roots in Cambridge, where I teach at Emerson College and live with my husband and two Portuguese Water dogs (one of which was a Pandemic puppy). I am also the Managing Editor for thebucket.com. My debut memoir, Emptying the Nest: Getting Better At Goodbyes (order with Ten|16 Press).

I’m an avid quilter (see essays), and enjoy walking with dogs, family, and friends.

My work has been published in The Boston Globe, The Boston Globe Magazine, The Brevity Nonfiction Blog (several times), The New York Times Magazine, The Bark, The Bucket, The Martha’s Vineyard Times, Expression Magazine, Talking Writing, Cognoscenti, Underwired, Under The Gum Tree, Motherwell, and a few anthologies, among others.

In addition to my work at Emerson College and The Bucket, I run Zoom workshops and Manuscript Editing Services (see menu: Write Your Way with Morgan.) My three decades of writing and teaching contribute to my insightful, thoughtful, and no-nonsense editing.

I have been honored with awards for my writing and teaching, including Wow Women on Writing – Finalist (Spring 2021); Alan L. Stanzler Award For Excellence in Teaching (May 2013); Writer’s Advice — Finalist (2019); WritingitReal Writing Contest —3rd Place (Spring 2018); Parenting Publications of America — Gold Award for Feature Writing (2006); Honors Program Outstanding Thesis/Project Advisor Award (May 2005). Morgan graduated with a degree in Psychology from Vassar College, a Cum Laude in Professional Writing and Publishing at Emerson College.
